Day 12: 28/8/25, Around Forsayth (Finnigans Rest)
Today we had a day trip out to Cobold Gorge
There is plenty of walking opportunities and we where supposed to walk along the gorge and over the glass bridge but we chickened out because it was so hot, 37C in the valley and probably 10C hotter up on the ridges.
Some magnificent cacti grow out here.
We also had a goanna looking for lunch, look closely, he’s a bit hard to see.
This Apostle bird is just a poser
The glass bridge across the gorge (not my photo)

St Andrews Cross spider webs (above and below, the fish can’t see the spider behind the web so can’t catch them

Diver has made himself at home in the gorge although he has nearly become crocodile lunch a few times.
Young crocodile hiding from mum (or he will also be lunch).
The river might look dry but under the ground it is a raging torrent that never dries up and is the resorts water supply, the pump and filters are buried beneath the sand and although originally diesel powered are now solar.
Finnigans Rest Hotel, incredible service and the meals, though simple, where excellent, would not hesitate to visit again.
